What a sad state of affairs. With all the British Albums released over the past 30 years, both Warren and I called it.

Just goes to show that there really weren't that many to choose from after all.

Ah, Mr Adams - we shall have to agree to disagree. You almost had me at Tubular bells (which is brilliant and game changing, even if I was only, well, -3 at the time it was released!). 'What's the story' would be a much better choice.

But... Dizzee Rascal is damn good. Best album perhaps not, but he's had some cracking tracks this past 12 months. And that's from a man getting so old that he called the cops on his neighbours Saturday night for making just too much noise, goddammit!

Sorry to do this to you Daz but you are getting old and you haven't realised it.

Most of those 30 years of Brits albums that you mentioned are well over 30 years old. Led Zep IV, Night at the Opera, Band on the Run, Dark Side and Tubular Bells were all released in the 70's.
Even the best stuff that the Police did is now 30+.

But I do agree with you that the Brit selections are horrible.

It is hard to think of many truly special British albums from the last 30 years.
Maybe "What's the Story" by Oasis as it probably changed British music forever.
"Pyromania" Def Leppard. It made them the biggest band in the world in the 80's.

Maybe they plumped for this bunch of dross because good British music really isn't global anymore.
