A kind offer from iTunes

The iTunes Store has just sent me a very nice e-mail telling me that I can pre-order Dido’s new album ‘Safe Trip Home’. It says “Because you’ve downloaded music by Dido from iTunes in the past”. What? I bloody well haven’t. That’s tantamount to slander. It’s almost the same as saying I drive a Fiat Punto, wear high heels and worry about water retention once a month.

Funny that it’s called ‘Safe Trip Home’. Listening to Dido while driving would be anything but a safe trip home, as falling asleep at the wheel is incredibly dangerous. Here’s a money-saving tip… rather than buying an entire Dido album, just buy one track and play it twelve times. The effect is exactly the same.

Why would you want to pre-order something off iTunes? It’s not like they’re going to run out of files to download on the day it’s released.

  1. I had a similar offer recently from those very nice people at Ticketmaster.

I have just purchased a couple of tickets to see AC/DC ( a bit more lively than Dido ) in Tampa a few days before Xmas.
Ticketmaster, the kindly caring souls that they are, offered to send me a copy of the new AC/DC CD when it came out for the princely sum of $17.50. Now I am pretty sure as the boys from down under have signed an exclusive deal with WalMart in the US to sell the album that it wont be a penny over 12 bucks when it is released.
Given that Ticketmaster also take about $14 convenience charge on each ticket ( convenient for them maybe ) they obviously take the view that the general public are suckers.
As an aside, me and my 15 year old son, Tom, are no doubt in for a bit of an ear pounding, but I am very proud that he is into a bit of old school metal. You just can’t beat it.
