Lotus Notes 8 top ten
Lotus, Notes    Posted by Darren March 3rd, 2008
In the run-up to the release of IBM Lotus Notes 8 I put together a presentation about the client’s top ten features (going up to eleven, Spinal Tap-style). I even included a picture of Nigel Tufnel. Some members of the audience got it, some… had never seen the movie.
So, something I’ve been meaning to do for a while is put together a page on that top ten (eleven). The list has changed a bit since some new features have come in with 8.0.1 (most notably widgets and live text). You can access the page here.
If anyone disagrees with my list, or has an idea for something else to be included, let me know with a comment.

Isn’t #1, threaded mail, around for some time now or do I miss something?

True, it was in Notes 7 but the Notes 8 implementation is far better.
I’m not saying all these things are new, I’m saying they’re some of the best features.

I think it was already in R5, but it is nice to learn it is still there & even improved!

#3 is frustrating to me. I hate having to click load images. I set the dang preferences to load images, just do it.
If we all have spam solutions or Postini or whatever, it shouldn’t be an issue.

How about modular functions, so I can move my sidebar pieces wherever I want them?
Quickr 8.1 is available? Missed that announcement.

Hi Darren, My name is Ross Guildford. I love Lotus Notes purely for Email and I used to use this at a huge IT company I used to work for. At my new job we use outlook and i’m desperate to setup Lotus Notes on my laptop at home. I run Vista Home Premium and will run any version of notes I can. I believe though I need to have a server with Domino on so I can run this first. I have a simple BT Broadband connection. I would be most grateful if this is something you can help me with. I need to know how to get this up and running…oh and also where I can buy this from. There will be 2 home users and we will use to email each other but also send external emails. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated seen as you are a Pro on the thing. It will not in anyway be used to work with outlook in my work place this is simply a home private thing. Best regards
